Until my first round of Whole30, I was never a breakfast person. In fact I fought the whole idea of breakfast, convincing myself that I wasn’t hungry in the morning and that breakfast was unnecessary calories. Fast forward to now and I can’t imagine mornings without my eggs! Of all the Whole30 transformations I’ve experienced, this has been one of the most impactful by far.
See I finally learned that by eating the right combination of foods to start my day, I wasn’t setting myself up for binge sessions at lunchtime and afternoon snack time. With a good breakfast to start my day, my food choices and energy level are naturally more balanced throughout the day. Here’s what I mean by the “right combination” of foods….my breakfast typically consists of plenty of protein (eggs or sausage), maybe a side of veggies or fruit, and a good dose of healthy fat like avocado or ghee (this is my all-time favorite ghee butter). Don’t skip the fat – this is the secret (for all your meals) to feeling satisfied and staying full!
Breakfast doesn’t have to be complicated. Most of the following recipes can be made ahead and reheated in the morning or eaten on the go. Whether you are already a breakfast person or not, you’ll find that these recipes are pretty irresistible! Remember…don’t stress about having the perfect breakfast, just find what works for you and don’t skip it!
