Why We Love Air Fryer Steak & Potatoes
- Only 4 simple ingredients needed to make this super easy recipe
- Quick prep and easy clean up
- Very little oil needed
- It’s a 20-minute meal, mostly hands off
- It’s healthy and high in protein (26 grams per serving!)
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Steak Bites – use pre-cut or cut your own from strip sirloin steak
- Yukon Gold Potatoes – look for the baby yellow potatoes in the grocery store
- Olive oil
- Seasonings – sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder
Swaps & Variations
Steak – use sirloin tips (I like these from Butcher Box) or cut strip steak into 1 inch cubes
Potatoes – baby red potatoes or diced russet potatoes also work well in this recipe
Oil – avocado oil can be used in place of olive oil
Seasonings – try kosher salt, my Homemade Seasoned Salt, or steak seasoning in place of the sea salt and other seasonings
Optional Garlic Butter Sauce – after the steak and potatoes have cooked, toss them in a mixture of melted butter and minced garlic
How to Make Air Fryer Steak & Potatoes
- Halve the baby potatoes and toss with half the oil and seasonings in a large bowl.
- Arrange potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
- Add the steak bites and remaining oil and seasonings to the bowl – toss to coat.
- Shake the basket well, tossing the potatoes.
- Add the steak bites to the basket with the potatoes and continue cooking at 400 degrees for 4-6 minutes.
FAQs
Can I use stew meat in this recipe?
Yes, although you may need to increase the cooking time. Also, keep in mind that stew meat tends to be tougher. For best results, I prefer a more tender steak cut like sirloin or strip steak.
How to store leftovers?
Place leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for 1-2 days. Leftovers can be reheated for 1-2 minutes in the Air Fryer or in the microwave at 30 second intervals.
How long to cook steak in the Air Fryer?
For this recipe, 4-6 minutes is sufficient because the steak is in small pieces. For larger cuts of meat like New York Strips or Ribeye steaks, cook time is about 5 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
How do I know when the steak is done?
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature on one piece of steak. For medium rare steak, cook to 135 degrees. For medium doneness, cook to 145 degrees.

Such a hearty meal and so easy in the air fryer
It was wonderful and quick. We used meat meant for kabobs cut into 1 inch squares.
