Dark Chocolate Almond Clusters with Sea Salt (Gluten Free) – simple and easy to make and perfect for the holidays and gift giving!

When I need a quick sweet treat for a party at holiday time, these Dark Chocolate Almond Clusters always come to mind.  They can be made in about 5 minutes and are seriously delicious!  Only four basic ingredients are needed for this recipe, making it a definite winner in my book!

I’ve made other versions of this recipe with other types of chocolate and nuts, but this one with dark chocolate and sea salt is my favorite.  They have just the right amount of sweetness from the chocolate and plenty of healthy fats so you don’t need to feel guilty about polishing off a few of these babies!

The sprinkle of kosher sea salt (this is my favorite) adds that perfect sweet/salty mix of flavors.  To store these chocolate almond clusters, I keep them in an air tight container in the refrigerator.  They can also be frozen if you’re doing your baking ahead of time.

How to Make Chocolate Almond Clusters

Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in a glass bowl in the microwave.  Start with 30 seconds and give it a stir.  Heat for another 30 seconds and stir until chips are completely melted and smooth.  You can also use a double boiler to melt the chocolate.

Pour the almonds into the melted chocolate and stir well to coat.

Drop tablespoons of the chocolate covered almonds onto a cookie sheet lined with wax or parchment paper.  Immediately sprinkle with kosher sea salt.

Let the chocolate almond clusters sit until hardened or place them in the refrigerator.  Peel off the baking sheet and store in an air tight container.

Variations on Dark Chocolate Almond Clusters with Sea Salt

Use semi sweet or milk chocolate if you prefer sweeter chocolate.  For Paleo diets, try the Enjoy Life Dairy Free Chocolate Chips.

Add a tablespoon or two of almond butter or peanut butter to the melted chocolate for an even richer taste.

Substitute the almonds with other nuts or mix of nuts (pecans, cashews, macadamias, etc.)

Stir in dried cranberries, raisins, or other dried fruit.

Make Chocolate Almond Bark by spreading the mixture onto the baking sheet in a thin layer and breaking into chunky pieces once cooled.

Package into cellophane bags with a pretty ribbon for gift giving.
