Avocado Oil

Orange Juice

Coconut Aminos

Chicken Broth

Garlic

Honey

Arrowroot Powder

What Makes This Orange Chicken Healthier than Takeout?

First of all, the chicken is not breaded and/or deep fried in unhealthy vegetable oils, but simply sauteed in avocado oil.

Coconut aminos is used in place of soy sauce and no extra salt or MSG is added, making it lower in sodium.

Arrowroot powder is swapped for cornstarch to thicken.

Raw honey is used to add natural sweetness, rather than refined sugar.

How to Make Healthy Orange Chicken

Begin by cutting your chicken breast into bite sized cubes. Season the chicken with salt and pepper and cook in avocado oil until done.

Make the sauce while the chicken is cooking by combining the remaining ingredients in a small bowl or mason jar. Whisk or shake vigorously until completely combined.

Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken and simmer until the sauce has thickened.

How to Serve

This Healthy Orange Chicken is excellent served the traditional way with a side of rice (white or brown) and steamed broccoli.

For an extra protein boost, try serving the orange chicken over quinoa.

Steamed green beans and stir-fried bell peppers are also great side dish options.

For a low carb option, serve over cauliflower rice.

Can I Freeze Orange Chicken?

Yes! After cooling, add to a freezer safe container, seal, and freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply thaw in refrigerator and warm in the microwave or in a skillet.
