Instant Pot Cool Ranch Chicken (Whole30, Paleo, Keto) – homemade taco and ranch seasonings make a great combo for chicken! Super-fast recipe made in the Instant Pot and Whole30 compliant!
Updated 1/27/22
If you’re looking for a family-friendly, easy, DELICIOUS recipe, this is it! I came across a few Crockpot Ranch Chicken recipes and immediately knew my family would love it. To keep it extra simple and fast, I adapted it for the Instant Pot and cleaned it up by replacing the taco and ranch packets with my homemade seasoning blend.
This recipe is a delicious blend of familiar ranch and taco flavors but without the junky ingredients and extra salt. One of the ways I transitioned our family to a clean eating lifestyle involved simple switches like making my own seasoning blends and condiments, replacing the packaged, convenience items that contain mystery ingredients, added junk, and excess sodium. If you have a desire to eliminate processed ingredients in your diet, this is a great place to start!
My favorite use for this recipe is Cool Ranch Chicken Tacos, served in tortillas or lettuce cups, but the leftovers are also great in these Mason Jar Cobb Salads, in taco soup, chili, and in burrito bowls. Topping this Ranch Chicken with a drizzle of Homemade Ranch Dressing and avocado also make it a fantastic option for Keto and low carb diets.
Ingredients
Boneless skinless chicken breasts
Homemade Ranch Seasoning
Olive Oil
Red Wine Vinegar
Chicken broth

Make the Homemade seasoning blends (there will be extra for future recipes too!)
Add all ingredients to the Instant Pot and cook for 15 minutes.
While the chicken cooks, make the Homemade Ranch Dressing.
Shred the chicken and serve!
Tips for Making Instant Pot Cool Ranch Chicken
I always allow for natural release of pressure in the pot when cooking poultry. Quick release can result in dry chicken.
In place of the broth, use diced tomatoes or salsa for an extra flavor boost.
If you prefer less juices, remove lid and turn sauté function on after pressure has released. Simmer 10 minutes to reduce sauce.
How to Serve Ranch Chicken
Serve over tortilla chips for nacho night
Build a burrito bowl with chicken, rice, lettuce, pico de gallo, and guacamole
Add to homemade pizza
Make a chicken salad with Homemade Mayo and serve in lettuce cups

So I originally thought the instant pot might not have as much flavor… but boy was I wrong! My husband who typically is not a fan of crockpot food was very surprised! Definitely a new family favorite!
Tried this-and loved it! For a recent gathering I made this chicken for tacos and everyone was just raving about the flavor. Does not disappoint. Very juicy and full of flavor.
I didn’t have any red wine vinegar on hand, so I just doubled the olive oil! It came out so juicy and full of flavor! My picky 7 year old asked what smelled so good, wanted to try it, and loved it! Will definitely make again!
Thanks, Sarah! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
I am going to try this tonight! Do the nutrition facts include your homemade ranch dressing?
Nicole – awesome, hope you enjoy it! No, the nutrition facts do not include the ranch dressing. I’ll be sure to add a note clarifying that. Thanks!!
I don’t have an instapot- and idea on how I can adapt the timing and/or ingredients for a crockpot?
Same ingredients, just cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours. Then shred the chicken. Let me know if you try it!
Looks delicious! Can I use frozen chicken breasts for this recipe? Do I need to adjust the cooking time? TIA!
Hey Gabby – yes, you can cook chicken from frozen in the IP! You shouldn’t need to increase cooking time…it will just take the pot longer to come to pressure. Also, I like to use natural release with poultry so it doesn’t dry out!
Thank you so much Nikki! I made it with frozen chicken and it was a huge hit with my whole family!
I’m new to the Instant Pot. Would halving the recipe change the cook times?
