Korean Beef Bowls – flavorful and nutritious, these build your own Korean ground beef bowls will be a family favorite. Ready in under 20 minutes and also great for meal prep!
Tired of dreaming up interesting dinner ideas for how to use ground beef? Yep, same here! I constantly rotate through many family favorites but am always looking for new and tasty ways to jazz up boring ground beef. With a sweet, salty, and slightly spicy flavor profile, these Korean Beef Bowls are a super simple and absolutely delicious alternative the whole family will enjoy.
How to Make Korean Ground Beef
Begin by browning 1 lb of ground beef in a large saute pan. ButcherBox is my favorite source of lean, grass-fed beef and they are currently running a promotion for 7 lbs of free meat with your first order!
Make the sauce by combining coconut aminos, honey, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using.) A typical recipe usually includes brown sugar for sweetness, but I love to substitute natural sugars like honey and the result is wonderful!
Pour the sauce over the browned ground beef and simmer for 5 minutes.
Serve with sliced cucumbers and shredded carrots over rice, cauliflower rice, or in lettuce cups and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
This recipe is easily doubled and the meat mixture can be frozen if desired.
What to Serve with Korean Ground Beef
My favorite combination is as detailed in the recipe below – served over rice with thinly sliced English cucumbers and shredded carrots and topped with green onions and sesame seeds.
Other topping/add-in ideas include sliced red bell peppers, chopped peanuts, and sriracha.
For a low carb version, swap cauliflower rice for the rice, serve in lettuce cups, or with broccoli slaw.
Meal Prep Korean Beef Bowls
This Korean Beef Bowl recipe converts perfectly for meal prep. Simply prep the beef, rice (or cauliflower rice), veggies, and build individual servings of each in glass bowls for a nutritious and delicious make ahead meal. The beef can be reheated separately or enjoyed cold.

As always, the flavors in this recipe are amazing! Ground beef was not a consistency I’ve tried in Korean style food before – I think flank steak (more of bulgogi style) would be better. But overall wonderful meal. We ate it up!
