Smoky Dry Rub Seasoning

Summer grilling season is here and I’m excited to get my grill back in action! There will be plenty of burgers, brats, and grilled chicken happening over the next few months, but when the old standbys get a little boring, I like to change things up with some new flavors. This Smoky Dry Rub is the perfect way to add tons of flavor without the hassle of marinating. It’s smoky with just a hint of sweetness, making it great for adding to ribs, pork, and chicken. I also love it on these Air Fryer Chicken Wings!

With just a few basic pantry spices, you can easily make this rub, using it right away or storing for future meals. It’s cheaper than purchasing a pre-made blend and also contains less sugar than most store-bought varieties. One of my favorite uses is to grill a big batch of chicken thighs coated in smoky dry rub on Sunday for easy make ahead lunches for my husband during the week. How to Make Smoky Dry Rub Seasoning

Measure the spices into a bowl and mix well.

Store the dry rub in a small mason jar or other airtight container.

Before using, give the mix a stir as spices may settle and clump.

Uses for Dry Rub & Instructions

Rub this smoky seasoning mix on any meat before cooking or grilling. It is excellent added to chicken breasts and thighs, pork, ribs, chicken wings, steak, venison, and turkey.

To use, sprinkle the seasoning onto meat and rub it with your fingers to coat the surface of the meat. Use approximately 2 tablespoons of dry rub per 1 pound of meat.

Let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes (longer is fine too, but will need to be refrigerated.)

Grill meat or cook in Air Fryer accordingly.
